Born and raised in Melbourne, Matt ‘ADNATE’, has had a major influence on the Melbourne street art scene for over 10 years. Starting out as a graffiti artist in his home town, Adnate has  traveled and painted in many cities such as Berlin and Paris. His adaption of portrait painting to spray cans and the street is quite amazing.

His giant portrait of an Indigenous boy commissioned as part of a Hosier Inc project, Paint Up! overlooks Melbourne’s most prominent Aboriginal site, Birrarung Marr. According to Adnate, the painting was designed to represent and empower Indigenous culture.

As reported in the HeraldSun, Lord Major Robert Doyle, who was in the lane for the unveiling, described the painting as a “remarkable and very moving narrative”.
